The
Marmalade Pantry interior
Albano Daminato
|
| |
Witness
the quintessential modernist's larder at Palais Renaissance.
Orchestrated by Albano Daminato (his third project for The
Marmalade Group), The Marmalade Pantry features oatmeal hand-glazed
tiles, an expanse of stainless steel and mirror, milk chocolate
leather sofas, a solid wooden butcher's block of a communal
table and the sharpest placemats in town. Setting this off
are the uber-stylish Alvar Aalto designed dining chairs which
provide the perfect perch for convivial relaxation in the
airy, light-filled atrium of Palais Renaissance.
Graduating with a bachelor's degree majoring in "human environments",
Albano has since worked with progressive and respected design
firms internationally, including major collaborations with
the Sydney firm "Burley Katon Halliday" and the Singapore
studios of "Kerry Hill Architects" - his work to date has
covered much of the design spectrum, from small scale domestic
projects, to prestigious fashion retail, museum and institution,
corporate and commercial through to hotel and resort design.

The
Marmalade Pantry identity
Duffy |
| |
In
January 2002, Duffy opened alongside Fallon its Asian offices
here in Singapore and in Hong Kong. The integration of advertising
and design (through Fallon and Duffy) will be a critical cornerstone
of the Asian offices, as it was in Fallon's expansion to New
York and London. Chris Lee and some of his colleagues at Design
Asylum, which has been around since July 1999 will become
a basis for Duffy Singapore and Hong Kong right away.
To date we have worked on accounts from a wide range of industries,
such as telecommunication, banking and finance, IT, shipping,
government institutions, fashion and property. Specialising
in brand development and design, our portfolio of clients
include The Ascott Group, Motorola, SingTel, Sembawang Properties,
Citibank, Credit Suisse, Song & Kelly, The Marmalade Group
amongst others. Duffy Singapore is also active in the arts
community doing pro-bono work for The Necessary Stage and
Singapore Symphony Orchestra. We are a highly awarded agency
with accolades from around the world including Communication
Arts (US), The Art Directors Club (US), The One Show (US),
Design & Art Direction (UK) and Creative Circle Awards (SIN).
The identity of The Marmalade Pantry was to use type and the
marmalade group's signature three dots to form the logo. The
type treatment is simple, clean, chic yet intimate. The concept
for The Marmalade Pantry, a high-end deli and restaurant came
from using words to stretch one's imagination. We used words
that are associated to each individual product to arouse their
appetite and prepare them for the gastronomic experience.
Every label and sticker is different relating to the product
and different colors are used for each individual product.

The
Marmalade Pantry uniform
Song & Kelly21 |
| |
| The
look and feel of The Marmalade Pantry uniform is intended
to be relaxed, modern and hip. The cargo style trousers and
panelled t-shirt give a suggestion of fun yet quietly sophisticated,
a reflection of the interior design and attitude of the restaurant. |
